Latest Race Reports & News

On the weekend of the 20th-22nd April I competed in round 2 of the ASBK championship at Hidden Valley in Darwin, I had set myself a goal of finishing in the top 10 for the weekend. I knew it was going to be a tough weekend in Darwin due to the heat and humidity, but every rider had to compete in the same conditions.

We had a practice day on Thursday with no timing, just 4 sessions to sort out the bike. It ended up being a busy day for myself and dad as the bike had a mechanical issue in the first 2 sessions limiting me to only 6 laps for both sessions. We finally sorted the issues so it was time to get re-accustomed to the track and get the feel for the bike and the track together. All in all Thursday was successful after we sorted out the dramas.

Happy Thinking

photo_3516_20120327_3On the weekend I competed in the first round of the Victorian Road Race Championships at Broadford Raceway. I had set my goals for the weekend to place top 3 in prostock 1000 and also to improve on my best times at the track. I also cross entered into the Superbike class. (For this event both classes were combined into the one race.)

On Saturday I had 2 qualifying sessions and 1 race. I sat out the first qualifier due to the rain and the weather not being the best hoping it was going to get better. The second qualifier went well, I felt comfortable on the bike and I ended up qualifying 6th overall superbike/prostock combined with a time of 59.7 seconds. (.5 seconds quicker then my previous best). We made a few changes to the bike after qualifying for the first race, where I got a good start and was upto 4th overall after lap 1, I lost 2 places throughout the race due to a few mistakes on my behalf. I finished 5th overall and 4th Prostock for the race and also set a new PB of a 59.2.
