On the weekend I raced at the final round of the Victorian road race titles at Broadford Raceway, I was hoping for a good weekend and consolidate my places in both Supersport (3rd) and Superstock 600 (2nd) classes for the year.
Saturday came around and it was straight into qualifying, first up was Supersport, the track was wet, I had a decent qualifier and placed 7th for the session which was still ok for the races. Superstock was next and the track was still damp but drying and I went out again on wets, I felt good and was upto 4th but towards the end of the session as the track dried out my rear tyre was worn and didn’t improve my times enough and dropped to 8th for the session, still an ok start position for the weekend.
The first race after lunch was the supersport race and the track was dry, I put some new tyres on for the weekend, I took a bit long to scrub them in and lost a few places on the first lap, I made some good moves and worked my way upto 5th place, I had lost to much ground on the front pack, but was happy at the end of the race on the result.
The next race was the supersport race, I got a good start and was having a great battle at the front with a few 1000cc bikes, I had the lead for about 2 laps until I lost it to Age Nestorovic, unfortunately I didn’t have the pace to run with him and finished 2nd for the race.
Sunday rolled around and first race up was Supersport, I got a good start and went with the front group unfortunately I made a few errors and lost contact with the front group, I finished 4th for the race.
Next up was superstock race, I got a good start and was in a good battle with Ben Nicholson and Ben Gotch, Age had got away from us in the first few laps, it was an awesome race between us 3, I made my move on the final lap into the 2nd last corner and took 2nd place for the race.
Next race was the last supersport race, I got a good start and was up with front group, unfortunately as the race wore on my rear tyre decided the same thing, I started sliding around, which was fun but not as fast, I still finished 4th for he race.
Last race of the day was my superstock race, I got a very average start and got stuck behind a 1000cc bike for too long and lost ground on the front 2 guys by the time I had got passed, I finished 3rd for the race which was still good considering the condition of my rear tyre, which had done a total of 6 races.
Overall for the weekend I finished 2nd in superstock 600 and 5th in supersport and 4th in supersport “C” Grade.
Overall for the season I finished 2nd in Superstock 600 which I was happy with, I also finished 3rd in Supersport and 2nd “C” Grade Supersport, I was happy with my results for the season and am now looking forward to 2011.
